It’s not particularly easy teaching students that may or may not have previous experience with watercolour. Last week was a case of demonstrating and guiding the room through exercises and techniques. This week we have taken off ‘the training wheels’ and the participants have bravely ventured into the world of watery media.

What amazing results were achieved! Using different mixed media to add textures and linear movement and by choosing the colours carefully extraordinary effects emerged. Some were bold and exciting, others were whimsical and restful. I think the workshop participants were surprised at the great results even after just 2 sessions.

Next week we will try Watercolour Portraits. This will be an ambitious undertaking but these classes are not for wimps! I think the risk will be worth it. Until then …
